The Carnegie Hotel is located at 160 West 56th Street in Midtown Manhattan, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, one block from Carnegie Hall and a short walk from Central Park and Broadway.

The Carnegie Hotel is in Midtown Manhattan, located near Central Park South and the Theater District, home to Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, iconic Broadway theaters, and some of the city's best-known attractions.

The closest subway stations are 57th St/7th Avenue (N, Q, R, W trains) and 57th St/6th Avenue (F train), both about a block from the hotel.

NYC yellow taxis charge a flat rate from JFK to Manhattan; check with the dispatcher at your terminal for current pricing. Estimated fares and drive times:

  • JFK ~$70–$110, 1–1.5 hrs.

  • Newark ~$90–$120, 1–1.5 hrs.

  • LaGuardia ~$55–$80, 45 min.

The hotel doesn't operate a courtesy shuttle, but the front desk can assist in making reservations for a private car.

Self-parking is available next door at the GMC Parking garage, with a reduced rate of $52 for 24 hours (plus $15 for oversized vehicles). There are no in/out privileges, valet isn't available, and the garage is open 24 hours.

The Carnegie Hotel offers five room types: Superior King, Superior Queen, Superior Double, and two ADA-accessible Junior Suites (Superior Queen Junior Suite and Superior King Junior Suite).

Yes, Superior Queen and Superior King Junior Suite ADA rooms are available, subject to availability.

We don't provide rollaway beds, as all guest rooms are designed for one bed. Cribs are also not available.

Yes, all rooms feature a mini-fridge.

All rooms include hairdryers and Rituals bath products: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face soap, lotion, and shower caps.

Reservations & Policies

Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 noon.

Early check-in is based on availability and can't be guaranteed unless booked in advance. If your room type is ready and fully serviced by housekeeping, we'll check you in early when possible; additional charges may apply. Luggage storage is available if your room isn't ready before 4:00 PM.

Late check-out is based on availability and may carry an additional fee. Unrequested late check-outs between 1:00–4:00 PM EST are charged 50% of the room rate; departures after 4:00 PM are charged a full night's stay at the current rate. Luggage storage is available after check-out until 10:00 PM EST.

Prepaid, non-refundable bookings are charged in full regardless of an early departure. All other reservations are subject to an early departure fee.

Reservations can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival, by 4:00 PM EST. Non-refundable and certain other bookings may carry different terms; please check your confirmation.

Pets are not allowed at The Carnegie Hotel.

Guests must be at least 18 years old to check in, with a valid government-issued photo ID and credit card.

The Carnegie Hotel is a smoke-free property. Smoking in a guest room or anywhere on the property incurs a $200 fee, and vaping is also prohibited, as it triggers in-room smoke detectors. Noise and smoke complaints are taken seriously and handled directly by our Security team.

Yes, the front desk is staffed 24 hours a day.

Amenities

Yes, continental breakfast is served daily in the lobby from 7:00–10:00 AM, along with a nightly wine hour from 5:00–6:00 PM. Both are included in the hotel's facility fee.

The Carnegie Hotel doesn't have an on-site restaurant or bar.

Yes, Wi-Fi is included in the daily facility fee.

There is no fitness center or pool on the property. Guests can purchase a discounted day pass to Crunch Gym on West 54th Street, between 8th Avenue & Broadway, available through Guest Services.

Dry cleaning is available Monday through Friday only. Guests who need same-day delivery must call in their request before 9:00 AM; requests after 9:00 AM are delivered the next day. The service is contracted to an outside company and isn't managed directly by the hotel.

Yes, included in the facility fee. Packages should arrive no more than 3 days before arrival, addressed to the guest's name and the hotel's full address, and must match a name on the reservation or they'll be returned to sender. Please have your tracking number ready for collection; note the hotel doesn't hold regular mail. Please note that the hotel will not store packages throughout the guest stay in the package room, and if checking out, collect your package well in advance.

Yes, included in the facility fee. Luggage can be stored during the dates of your stay, but not before arrival day or overnight after 10:00 PM on your departure day. In addition, the hotel does not offer overnight storage.

There's no dedicated concierge, but the Guest Services team is happy to help with sightseeing, Broadway tickets, reservations, and more.

There's no ATM on the property; the nearest bank is one block away.

The hotel doesn't have a gift shop.

Yes, ice and vending machines are located on the cellar level and are accessible by elevator.

Carnegie Hall is right around the corner, about a 2-minute walk from The Carnegie Hotel's front door.

Central Park is about a 5-minute walk, Radio City Music Hall and MoMA are roughly 8–10 minutes, and Times Square/Broadway theaters are about 10–15 minutes away. Lincoln Center is farther, closer to a 15–20 minute walk, or a short subway/cab ride.

Payments, Billing & Taxes

The hotel charges a mandatory facility fee of $28.69 (including tax) per room, per night, in addition to the room rate. It covers Wi-Fi for unlimited devices, continental breakfast, nightly wine & cheese hour, unlimited coffee and hot chocolate, light snacks and drinks available 24 hours in the lobby, unlimited domestic phone calls, print/scan/fax services, package handling, luggage storage, two bottles of water and an umbrella in your room on arrival, and a discounted Crunch Gym day pass. Gratuities are not included.

Every night is taxed as follows: 8.875% NY State sales tax, 5.875% NYC sales tax, a $2.00 NYC hotel occupancy tax, and a $1.50 NY State hotel unit fee.

The hotel accepts American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. All bookings must be guaranteed with a valid credit card; personal checks, traveler's checks, and cashier's checks aren't accepted, though cash may be used to pay at departure. Wire transfers are accepted at least 7 business days before arrival, and third-party credit card authorizations at least 14 business days before arrival.

Yes, this can be paid by credit or debit card at check-in. An incidental hold of $50 per day (up to $200 per stay) is taken in addition to your projected room charges. Non-refundable reservations are charged in full at the time of booking.

Authorizations are released on your departure day. Most U.S.-based banks take 5–7 business days, depending on the issuing bank's policies; international cards may take up to 30 days or more.

Guests must present a fully signed New York City and State tax exemption form, and the stay must be paid for by the tax-exempt organization for the exemption to apply. This can be prepaid via the organization's card at least 14 days before check-in, or presented at check-in with the organization's card. If paid without prior exemption paperwork, guests have a 90-day window after check-out to submit proof (including the ST-129 New York State form) for a refund of taxes charged.

Yes, travel agents are paid a 10% commission as long as a valid IATA number is entered at the time of booking.
